This page will be updated as I follow new substacks. Will display whether I am a free or paid member, how much I pay and how long I have subbed for with a brief description of the content available and whether it’s worth paying for or not.
As I follow or unfollow more I will keep this updated for reference.
BowTiedBull - paid since April 11, 2021 ($10/month)
A group of ex-wall street bankers, formerly known as “Wall Street Playboys.” Provides excellent macro takes on both crypto, general finance, as well as guides for making wifi money and maximizing a short window of time at a high paying career to get in and out as quick as possible. Several E-books available under their old name. Will every now and then drop recommendations on new crypto protocols they are investing in and drop trades to take, but the content is more focused on macro-economic events and considerations to make.
DeFi Education - paid since June 22, 2021 ($10/month)
Affiliated with BowTiedBull, written by 5 authors that are directly involved in crypto hedge funds, or solo crypto activity. Is a guide for how to value specific DeFi protocols as well as how to use them and explainers for how they work. Assumes you have a basic understanding of crypto and how to take custody, sign transactions and utilize your crypto directly.
SchwabStack - paid since today, lol, January 25, 2022 ($50/annual, or $5/month)
Crypto-zoography, alternate history, and an exploration of unexplained but documented historical events that the mainstream will typically pretend does not exist. Schwab does a significant amount of research (that you can replicate yourself) to back his claims, but they should still be taken with a grain of salt. I find his writing to be a great jumping off point for research and finding new literature that is otherwise often left forgotten in the corner shelf of history
Child Labor Investments - free since sometime in December 2021
All of their content is free. The author is a teenager in Singapore affiliated with BowTiedBull. The author writes incredibly engaging content about Meta, the Metaverse, and NFT’s. I have trouble believing the author is just a teenager because some of the examples and references they make are from the 80’s and 90’s when trying to show how the growth of the internet is tied in to what he is explaining now. But It’s engaging stuff, and the content is free, so its worth a look if you are interested.
DeliciousTacos - free since April 12, 2021
All of his content is free. The author writes under the pseudonym “DeliciousTacos” and is one of my favorite authors, he mostly writes irreverant short stories, and one long novel so far with another long novel in the works. He writes in a similar vein to Houllebecq, or Bukowski, but its a bit reductionist to compare him to either. DT lives in Los Angeles, and often writes from his direct perspective as a 40-something year old man. Most of his content is about women, work, his sobriety, and general social commentary, which is normally extremely boring content, but he is absolutely hilarious and insightful so it ends up being interesting to me.
Wrong Side of History - free since January 6th, 2021
Most of his content is free. The author is Ed West, and his content covers current events through a historical lens with examples given from antiquity to help better understand events today. His articles often help me to better put into context events I am living through and for me to understand which events are simply mundane, and which events are likely pre-cursors to bigger historical shifts. Definitely worth a free subscription to at the least if the topic interests you.
BowTiedBengal Performance - free since October 7th, 2021
All of his content is free. He is a Doctor writing under a pseudonym affiliated with BowTiedBull. His content covers the relationship between tendons, muscle, and bones along with explaining how to avoid injury and rehabilitate from injury. Also gives great insight into exercising, form, and simple adjustments you can make to overcome or eliminate pain in specific joints or areas that you might be causing for yourself unconsciously. If you’re active at all, or experience any nagging pain or aches its a great read.
Mind of a Lion - free since July 21st, 2021
All of his content is free. Affiliated with BowTiedBull. His content is a bit more scattered. I followed specifically for articles about human metabolism, human hormone management, meditation, and articles covering psychedelic usage. Also hosts a podcast with interviews of the BowTied Crew which can be worth a listen if you want a better introduction of who to follow within that crowd. Great content on mindset that can also be very helpful no matter what it is you aspire to do in life.
Things hidden in Complexity - free since 2/3/2022
All of his content is currently free. Analysis of current trends and current events to predict future outcomes and present outcomes that are currently unappreciated by the mainstream. Written by Jonathan Irons, I don’t know who he is, but he compiles and analyzes data in novel ways to form compelling conclusions based on reasonable inferences of existing evidence. Worth a read if you have any interest in current events beyond the generic right and left talking points.
Thanks for the recommendations! Looks like the bowtied jungle is really making a mark, and as far as I understand the networking effect, I love it!
