Great post. Super interesting comparison to opium and China. Also super disturbing about the kids at the border, all of what's happening at the border seems surreal.

I get dental work in mx now, it's been drastically better than any dentist I've seen in the states. Also went to Mexico city recently, loved it, felt safer than in LA/SF/SEA all of which I've visited recently. Beautiful architecture, culture, hospitality, coffer- it wasn't all perfect but really cool. Also only saw 1-2 homeless ppl the whole time and we were allover the city. It doesn't appear to be a thing there. I was reading some of it is cultural, like families don't let each other live on the streets, and also that building codes/zoning laws have made it so much easier for them build dwellings. Also I think it's a culture that takes pride in working.

Reminds me of how many frustrated citizens there are here, and how just a few bad apples can spoil so much goodness. I live in the northeast, and since 2000 MA and VT have both threatened secession...tho really, western Mass just wants to breakaway from the budgetary bs of Boston and says they’ll join VT (which is its own breakaway from NY, 14th state)....anyways, I’m still proud to be an American! Hold my head high, share and help whenever possible, and negate every governmental guideline I can. Appreciate your incredibly thorough and insightful writings as ever fren!!

I suppose if I had any questions at all about this article (which is really well done btw) I would ask “Well, if they’re not from Mexico then where? And more importantly, what is Mexico doing to help stop it?”.

I am not proud to be an American because I did not make myself an American, and refuse to be proud of anything I didn’t do myself.

I reject nationalism’s participation trophy.

My morality supercedes the law and stands whether or not “we” really have a country.

I hope every secession attempt is successful.

I am excited to work and be of service to others. Helping others is the essential purpose of my life.
